Sony Style for Father’s Day or Big Toys for Big Boys
I’m blogging today from the "Live Music Capital of the World, Austin, Texas, which is also the home of our Sony Style store in The Domain. It’s a beautiful, new outdoor mall located in the north part of the city with an array of high-end shops (Tiffany, Neiman Marcus, etc.), restaurants and even a wine bar. Plus, there are nice condominium residents integrated right into the mall’s street scene and a Westin Hotel is coming soon.
With Father’s Day coming this Sunday, I thought I would do a first-hand survey of the team at the store to see what gift they would like to give their dads or receive as a dad themselves.
First up is Andrew Clary, the store’s home and personal AV specialist, who has been with Sony since the shop opened in March 2007. Andrew has a dad, a step dad and a future father-in-law — all living in East Texas. His gift of choice is Sony’s new MDR-NC500D digital noise canceling headphones.
They’re lighter and more comfortable than our earlier models. Andrew tells me these headphones offer very clean sound with great bass. They feature two noise canceling options. You can go wireless since they have special transmitter built right into the phones that cancels out ambient noise. Or you can use the plug-and-play device for airplanes, any MP3 player or a hi-fi stereo system. At Sony Style, you can pick them up for less than $400.
Next up is Kent Paisley, the store’s assistant manager. Kent liked the 5300 ES A/V receiver, which sells for just under $1,700. (I’d like to be Kent’s dad.)
