Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera Review

I have a Canon EOS 40D digital camera. Overall, I am pleased with it, though there are things about it I find extremely frustrating and lately it seems to be acting up.

I purchased this particular model because I have used Canon lenses for many years with film cameras and the same lenses work on the digital body. The camera has been reliable. I've used it constantly for 2 years now without any major issues until recently.

Recently, on two different jobs, I have had the camera malfunction. Once it was unable to focus and began to flash different aperture numbers on the display. I had to take the battery out to reset the camera. The second malfunction occurred when I was using it in low light.

After every shot the camera would say "busy" and in order to shoot another frame I had to turn the camera on and off. Not great when I was shooting upwards of 900 images that day for a job. I also feel as though the camera has slowed down. While shooting another job this week- fast moving images of dogs playing.

The camera was unable to stop the motion and many of the shots were blurry. I was forced to rely very heavily on a digital photo program to fix the images and am not used to doing that. I shoot for print, as we said in the old days. I think it's a complicated camera and that I would really benefit from taking a course in how it works. It isn't intuitive.

Still, it's a workhorse of a camera. It's been dropped a few times and still looks new. It has a nice image quality when it is working properly.
